I have been in the finance industry, working specifically in residential lending, since 2002, and have experience sourcing both standard and non-conforming home loans. I am passionate about helping home buyers to put the last piece into the home loan jigsaw puzzle, so they can purchase the property they want.

Whilst I am knowledgeable about and enjoy working with clients in all home loan situations, I am particularly experienced in the non-conforming and reverse mortgage market.

Non-conforming home loans

For the five years before joining Loan Market, I specialised in non-conforming home loans with one of Adelaide’s best known broker firms. I have assisted clients that range from not being able to purchase a home because of their bad credit history, bankruptcy, defaults, or self employed with no financials; to clients who needed to used the equity in their home to consolidate debts, or simply to save the family home from being repossessed. I was responsible for all aspects of the process from enquiry to settlement.

Through it all I have discovered that there are genuine people out there who are struggling to make repayments as life has given them a curve ball; perhaps through an illness, or even loss of income or business. Once a credit default has been lodged the traditional lenders will struggle to assist, which is why the non-conforming lenders play such an important part in the mortgage industry.

Reverse Mortgages

After being introduced to the market some four or five years ago, the Reverse Mortgage industry continues to make a significant push into consumer education as awareness for this retirement solution grows.

A Reverse Mortgage, or Home Equity Release mortgage, is available to owner-occupier homeowners over the age of 60. It is secured by a registered first mortgage on your principal place of residence or investment property and allows you to release funds using the equity in your home without the need to make any regular repayments. You are not required to make any repayments whist you are still living in your home, as all interest and fees are “rolled up” into the loan balance.

Reverse Mortgage lenders vary in what options are available. Some of those options include: “Fixed for Life” rate or a “Capped for Life” variable rate with a choice of funding options.

  • Choice of Interest Rate Protection – ‘Fixed for Life’, ‘Capped for Life’ or a split of both rates on the Lump Sum amount.

  • No Negative Equity guarantee written into your contract – means that you will never owe more than the value of your property and you can stay in your home for as long as you choose.
  • Use of Funds – you can use the funds for any worthwhile purpose.
  • No regular payments – you don’t have to make regular repayments.
  • Property Ownership – you retain full ownership of the property and retain all the benefits of any growth in value of your property.

After several years working in the non-conforming home loan industry, I believe that there is no loan too difficult or hard to finance, you just need to persevere.
