First Home Owners Grant Queensland
In addition to the federal government’s First Home Owners’ Grant, the Queensland Government offers additional financial incentives for eligible first home buyers in the form of stamp duty concessions on transfer stamp duty.
Under the concession scheme, a first home buyer will pay no stamp duty on properties up to the value of $500,000; properties valued between $500,000 and $600,000 will be eligible for partial exemption calculated on a sliding scale.
A property value threshold of $750,000 applies to all potential recipients of the First Home Owners Grant (FHOG) only properties below this value may be eligible for the FHOG.
Regional QLD First Home Owner Grant
First home buyers in regional Queensland who qualify for the FHOG and are buying a newly constructed property are eligible for an additional payment of $4,000 on top of the $7,000 FHOG. Building must commence between 1 June 2010 and 30 June 2011, to be eligible.
First home buyers in the following council areas are not eligible for the additional grant: Brisbane City Council, Gold Coast City Council, Ipswich City Council, Lockyer Valley Regional Council, Logan City Council, Moreton Bay Regional Council, Redland City Council, Scenic Rim Regional Council, Somerset Regional Council and Sunshine Coast Regional Council.
