First Home Bonus
In addition to the federal government’s First Home Owners’ Grant, the South Australian government offers an additional grant for eligible first home buyers in the form of the First Home Bonus. From September 17th, 2010, the First Home Bonus provides additional funds to the value of $8,000 to eligible first home buyers purchasing newly constructed properties only, based on the market value of the property to be purchased. To receive the full Bonus payment, the value of the property must not exceed $400,000. Properties between $400,000 and $450,000 will be eligible for a portion of the Bonus based on a sliding scale.
For the purposes of the $4,000 First Home Bonus, a new home may include contracts to build, off-the-plan purchases, owner-builders and homes which are considered to be new residential premises for GST purposes.
