south Australia - First Home Bonus
Established in June 20084, the First Home Bonus is an additional payment on top of the First Home Owners' Grant that South Australian first home buyers may also be eligible for. The current First Home Bonus provides additional funds to the value of $4000 to eligible first home buyers for sale contracts entered into after June 5, 2008, based on the market value of the property to be purchased.
To receive the full Bonus payment, the value of the property must not exceed $400,000. Properties between $400,000 and $450,000 will be eligible for a portion of the Bonus based on a sliding scale.
For the purposes of the $4000 First Home Bonus, a new home may include contracts to build, off-the-plan purchases, owner-builders and homes which are considered to be new residential premises for GST purposes.
