First Home Buyer Grants Victoria
In addition to the federal government's First Home Owners' Grant, the Victorian Government offers an additional grant for eligible first home buyers in the form of the First Home Bonus.
Victoria - First Home Bonus
Established in May 2004, the First Home Bonus is an additional payment on top of the First Home Owner Grant that Victorian first home buyers may also be eligible for. To receive the Bonus payment, the value of the property must not exceed $500,000.
The current First Home Bonus provides additional funds to the value of $3000 to eligible first home buyers for sale contracts entered into until 30 June 2009 for established homes. This amount increases to $5000 where the property is a new home and the transaction is entered into on or after 1 January 2007 and before 1 July 2009.
For the purposes of the $5000 First Home Bonus, a new home may include contracts to build, off-the-plan purchases, owner-builders and homes which are considered to be new residential premises for GST purposes.
