My customers all have similar philosophies, pay the home loan off fast and make money from investing. Regardless of which category you fit into, one thing always holds true: it’s not about the interest rate, it’s always about the structure. Sometimes having the cheapest interest rate will cost more in the long term, when you take into account fees, flexibility of structure and liquidity. Having a good cashflow structure in place for both your home loans and investment loans will enable you to maximise your monthly cashflow, and thus, secure financial freedom.
For all loans, structure is important
I service a vast range of loans and structures, including Interest Only or Principal and Interest repayment options, non-conforming loans, building and construction loans, and development and commercial loans. I provide solutions for clients requiring residential lending, commercial lending, business lending, business overdrafts, mortgage protection and financial planning products.
The key to finding the right loan from the vast array on offer is to determine the most beneficial structure for your situation. This could include a loan with an offset account, The option to pay interest in advance, choice of asset protection products and so much more.
The home loan interview process
My focus is always on finding you a financial solution that optimises your cash flow management. While the home loan or investment loan you choose may be very different from the next person, the goal and therefore the overall process is always very similar. This process includes everyone from first home buyers, to self-employed borrowers and borrowing through a self-managed super fund.
The interview process I will run through with you will focus on achieving financial freedom. Some questions I will ask include:
- What are your long term goals?
- What are short term goals?
- What do you want to achieve out of working with me?
By understanding these three concepts, we can ensure you secure a loan with the right lender for your situation, that has the structure that is most appropriate to your needs.
First home buyers
I use a range lenders, but the important thing I look for is flexibility. For example, many first home buyers will, in the next 3-5 years, want to start a family. This means securing finance with a lender that has the flexibility to either pay extra off the mortgage to allow for maximum cashflow during maternity period, a lender that allows applicants to have a repayment holiday, or even a lender with a loan structure which works to reduce the total interest payable and allows you to repay your home loan at a fast rate early in the loan term.
Any doubt or fears I may have had in organising finance (scary as it is) in buying my first home in Sydney was immediately erased on the initial phone call and meeting with Jason Basseal. Being so busy with work and other pressures, I handed all the relevant paperwork over to Jason (all of which he had informed me earlier to prepare prior to our meeting) and then I had to disappear. In my absence Jason was thorough, courteous, polite and extremely competent in all aspects required with the application for the loan. His assurances were welcomed and comforting with the updates continually flowing so as not to be kept in the dark. I knew every step of the way what was happening and what was expected of me. I will be passing Jason’s details onto anyone I hear of that is applying or wishes to apply for a loan with great confidence. Thank you Jason for your high degree of product knowledge and I can’t speak highly enough of your services and of course attaining my loan.

Self-employed borrowers
I had a self-employed client making the biggest investment of his life purchasing his dream home in Rodd Point. He came to me looking a for a loan to finance his purchase, we went through his Asset and Liability Statement, and current cashflow structure with business and personal accounts, and found that he had too many accounts paying each other. It was much like robbing Peter to pay Paul.
My customers’ financial situation had him open to many tax implications unless he otherwise restructured, so we corrected the structure to streamline his finances. Firstly we sorted out the loans he needed, consolidated debt and business loans. We then streamlined his cashflow and separated business and non-business expenses.
We are now working on maximising his tax deductions from other investments, thus putting in a strategy to pay off non-deductable debts within a timely manner.
Business networks
I have built solid relationships with key complementary professionals who can assist you with all aspects of property purchase, including real estate agents, accountants, financial planners and solicitors. These businesses include:
- Ray White Bankstown
- Ray White Earlwood
- Ray White Marrickville
- Ray White Dulwich Hill
- SV Law Firm Earlwood
These relationships have helped make the property purchase process smoother for first home buyers and investors alike, with a complete network of professionals who are dedicated to working together to make buying property an exciting and easy experience.
…Jason Basseal from the Loan market was a great inclusion on auction day and during the open house period. He provided prospective buyers with a knowledgeable resource that could increase their understanding of the true value of the property from a lending perspective, as well as their true borrowing capacity during such uncertain economic times.

Additional qualifications
Prior to my life as a mortgage broker, I was busy assessing credit applications with ING Direct. This has enabled me to understand credit policy, how to fit a deal and where to go the first time for the best results for your loan application.
I always had a passion for finance and investment markets, and hold a Bachelor of Economics and Finance (Sydney University, completed 2001). This degree provides me with an understanding not only of the economic background in the finance industry, but the macro economic aspect and cycle we are currently facing.

Jason Basseal was first introduced to me when I interviewed him for a position as a Personal Lending manager with Ray White Financial Services. From that meeting I was impressed by Jason’s professionalism and presentation…The manner, in which he dealt with his clients and managed his business, was second to none. No one more impressed than me. His understanding of the mortgage industry and his ability to structure loans for clients made him the envy of the team. He not only knew how to write loans but he always did what was right for the customer. (This was rare in such a volatile industry.)…One of the offices that Jason looks after now is Ray White Bankstown (My own office). My belief in Jason is indicative of the fact that I chose Jason to look after the clients of my own business. In a period of six months Jason has assisted us with the sale of properties, assessing clients and answering the queries even though sometimes he did not get the loan…and clients enjoy the way Jason does business…I would highly recommend Jason to anybody. The manner in which he deals with people impresses me and it does not take long for anyone that meets Jason to understand why.
