I have been living and working in the Campbelltown area for years and after a long career with one of Australia’s major banks, I really wanted to be able to give my Customers more choice than just one lender. Now I deal with all kinds of people with all kinds of needs – first home buyers, investors, retirees and the self employed. Personally, I am easy going and truly enjoy meeting and assisting all customers with their home loans. If you deal with me, you will be dealing with someone you can trust, someone who will tell you straight exactly what your options are and someone who will work with you at every stage of your application. I am also a Justice of the Peace.

First home buyers

I work with a lot of first home buyers and have developed a very good understanding of their needs – particularly in the Campbelltown area. Not all brokers understand how to best help first home buyers. I had a recent case where a first home buyer called me because a loan had been declined by one of the major banks. I quickly discovered that the customer had been given the wrong advice. There was only one simple part of the customer’s application that was not suitable to that lender (which a good broker should have known) and sent the business somewhere more suitable. That’s exactly what I did and I got the customer a home loan. The original broker had simply recommended the wrong product & lender.

We really want to thank you (Karen Coburn) for everything you managed to pull together for us with our place. With a little help now from our friends and family, we were able to fix the place up and make it look fabulous. Since then, we’ve left in in the capable hands of Jim and his team. I’m sure you will hear form us again before the year is out!!

Restructuring your home loan to get a better deal

I love saving people money by restructuring for better deals. I recently dealt with a financial accountant who unbelievably was on a straight standard variable rate and had never been made aware of her options. Deals like those available via professional packages. She had two loans (one owner occupier, one investment) totaling $700,000. I restructured and saved her $5,000 per year. Make sure you deal with a reputable broker!

Pre-approvals – first home buyers & property investors

If you can, it is very important to get home loan pre-approval. I do a lot of pre-approvals for first home buyers and investors wanting to ensure they have their finances in order so they can buy the property they want when they see it.

Property valuations

With the western Sydney property market the way it is, it is important to make sure you deal with someone who can give you an idea of what your property (or target property) is worth before you either refinance or purchase. You will then have a far better idea of your borrowing approval level. I subscribe to RP Data and am able to give you free of charge a lot of information about the value of property in most states and cities in Australia and can potentially help you if you need to appeal a valuation.

The best advice I can give a borrower?

Save hard and spend wisely, don’t lie and always be truthful when applying for finance. This is especially important when you have had any kind of past credit issues. Tell your broker everything so there are no surprises and the best case can be developed for you to get your application through – on time!
