I believe that mortgage broking is not just about providing the home loan service through to settlement. It goes way beyond that. For me it’s important to build a relationship with each customer, so I thoroughly understand their needs and goals, and they get the finance package that’s in their best interest. Ideally, I’d like all of my customers to be so pleased with my knowledge and service that together we can devise a long term finance strategy for the future. The biggest compliment my customers can pay me is to refer me to their family and friends.

My extensive experience in the finance and mining Industries, and business and communication sales, means I have dealt with a wide variety of people and business situations pertaining specifically to the local area. I pride myself on supplying professional service ten times out of ten, and getting stellar results in a wide variety of situations. Working closely with two real estate offices in the local area can often also mean faster results for my customers who are looking for their dream property. With a substantial client database at my disposal, I also have a range of tradesmen ranging from builders to electricians and plumbers, etc., along with many other service providers that I can call upon if a new client is looking for some work to be done.
First home buyers
First timers usually require more explanation of the processes involved, and I am happy to take the extra time to sit down and answer all of their questions. Whether they have already located their dream home or want to get pre-approved and start looking, I am there to assist every step of the way. I will assist in completing and lodging loan applications and First Home Owner Grant documentation, plus liaise with sales agents and solicitors. Communication is the key to giving first home buyers the service they need.
Steve was excellent. When we decided to purchase our home we were located some 551kms from Cairns at Coen, on the Cape York Peninsula. This made completing this transaction in a timely manner quite difficult so good, accurate communication was very important to us. Steve kept us informed of the ongoing progress to obtain our loan and helped to calm us during the anxious moments whilst arranging our finance.

Property investors
My relationship with a wide variety of lenders means I can offer property investors a range of financial packages to suit their needs. This is particularly important in the changing financial climate, where investors may need to utilise less conventional or specialised solutions. I keep all of my clients updated throughout the process and continue to keep them informed about industry changes which may affect them after the loan is settled. Using my business contacts I can also arrange quick rental appraisals to assist in their applications.
Lo Doc loans
I was dealing with a young man who owned a catering service located on a remote Island in the Gulf of Carpentaria. His main clientele were from the mines and associated businesses from the island. As he worked split shifts six days per week, he had not had his financials completed for the last few years. His own bank had told him that due to his lack of documentation he would not be able to get a loan. However using my contacts and industry knowledge I was able to secure him a Lo Doc facility that suited his needs and allowed him to purchase his first home. He was over the moon, since he thought this was out of his reach.

My office is based at Trinity Beach giving me easy access to all areas around Cairns City, specialising in the beaches including Palm Cove, Clifton Beach, Kewarra Beach, Trinity Park, Yorkeys Knob, Holloways Beach and Machans Beach, plus Smithfield, Caravonica, Rainforest Estate, Redlynch, Freshwater, Stratford, Brinsmead, Whitfield and Edge Hill.
I am also willing to travel to all areas south of Cairns as well as Port Douglas, Mareeba and the Atherton Tablelands if clients request my services in these areas.
When we first came in contact with Steve we were talking with another broker after our own bank had said that they could not help us. The evening prior to us returning to sign up with the other broker, Steve came to our house and sat down with us and explained the full process that would be involved to get our loan approved, even helped us to apply for the First Home Owners Grant. When our first application was declined we were very dejected. Instead of giving up Steve again sat down with us and set out a plan to put us in a better position to reapply again in a few months time, including assisting us with a savings program and even helped us into a rental property (the actual house we ended up buying) until we were in a position to get our loan approved. From our first meeting in April through to when our loan finally settled in September, Steve was in touch regularly and kept us informed of all developments.
