Now more than ever we need to come together to start telling our story. We need to control the narrative and let the Australian public know that brokers work for them - always have, always will.
How do we do this?
We collect and share hundreds and thousands of our customer testimonials.
Email, call, SMS or reach out to every one of your customers and ask them for a testimonial of the great work you do. Then post the video, quote or image on your social media with the hashtag #brokersworkforyou #royalcommission #dontgivethebanksafreekick #findafairerdeal
Together we can make it known that brokers create awesome customer outcomes.
What do you need?
We have created social tiles, flyers and a letter to help you reach out to customers and encourage success stories and testimonials. We have already seen a positive number of brokers and customers sharing their stories, and we encourage you all to do the same.

LMGO’s Broker Interview Guide (BIG)
LMGO’s BIG will detail key elements of your conversations with your customer that can be referred to in order to understand the customer’s situation in detail and provide reasoning for the solutions that have been offered. It will need to be completed and supplied with every new and credit critical variation loan application.
What does this mean for you?
The BIG will be part of LMGO’s minimum requirements for submission and must be signed and dated by yourself and your customer(s) and included as a supporting document when submitting an application.
From Wednesday 21 November:
- The BIG will be available via ApplyOnline (AOL).
- An editable PDF version of the BIG will be available via Important Documents in MyCRM.
- The Loan Variation Form will be updated to incorporate the BIG requirements and must be completed for credit critical changes. The updated form will direct you as to when you must complete the BIG.
Once the BIG is available via AOL, you will notice a new tab called ‘Compliance’. This tab contains all the questions that are required to be completed as part of the BIG. Once completed the BIG needs to be printed, signed and submitted as a supporting document.
You will need to follow the same process you currently do when submitting required documents (i.e. Application Form or 100 points of ID Form) with your customers’ applications.
We are working towards enhancing MyCRM to capture the same key elements of conversation with your customer and map this data directly into AOL.. This is still in development and will we keep you updated as to when it will be available.
The BIG is designed to improve the way we capture and record the outcomes of our conversations and customer needs.
The guide is available:
- as an editable PDF for manual completion
- by using ApplyOnline—you can simply add the additional BIG information to the Application/Compliance tab.
The three areas that have new field changes in ApplyOnline are:
- the Applicants tab
- a brand new Compliance tab
- an additional required document (the BIG) in the ‘Supporting Docs’ tab.
Completing and attaching a BIG is a required part of application submission.
To support you in completing this new required document, please take a look at:
- Advantedge BIG Broker FAQs
- Advantedge BIG Help Guide – this help guide will take you through each section of the BIG

Five Loan Market brokers make the Elite Business Writers 2018 list!
The ebbs and flows in credit market conditions have proved to be no match for five Loan Market brokers, who have been named in The Adviser’s 2018 Elite Business Writers.
Loan Market has successfully secured five of the twenty-five spots in this year’s Elite Business Writers. After a stellar year, Josh Bartlett of Loan Market - Bayview has come in 5th, recognised for his impressive combined volume of residential mortgages and insurances.
Leading the category for nonresidential and insurance volume is Daniel Green of Green Finance Group, placing 6th overall. Mr Green credits his success to specialisation in the hospitality industry, writing $176.5 million in commercial loans, business loans, leasing and equipment finance, cash flow finance, car loans and personal loans.
“There aren’t many brokers in Australia that specialise,” Mr Green said. “Your general commercial broker can write a loan for a mum and dad business buying a commercial property, but when it comes to those industry specialisations, there aren’t many brokers in Australia that have that knowledge.”
Despite reports of a slowdown in the housing market, particularly in Sydney and Melbourne, Sarah Thomson of Loan Market Geelong was one of 20 Victorian brokers that placed in the group of 25, coming in at number 13.
Coming in at 17th spot was new-to-the-list Josh Gilbert from Victoria. Josh has had a fantastic year with a number of award nominations under his belt. He finishes out the year as an industry elite.
Alex Shumsky placed 25th, closing out an impressive effort from our Loan Market brokers.
A big congratulations to all Elite Business Writers 2018.
Loan Market’s Bernard Desmond has taken out one of the top titles at the Finance Broker Association of Australia (FBAA) Gala Dinner and Awards of Supremacy, being recognised as Finance Broker of the Year (VIC & TAS).
The award joins a long list of achievements for Mr Desmond. He’s received eight awards over the last 12 months and been named a finalist 20 times, despite only being in the industry since 2017.
Mr Desmond said he was overwhelmed by the FBAA win, and could never have predicted this much success so soon in his career.
“Never underestimate the difference 12 months can make in your professional career or personal life. I won my first award in November 2017, being named FBAA Mentee of the Year. Now 12 months later to go back and win 2018 FBAA Finance Broker of the Year was really a special moment for me,” said Mr Desmond.
Mr Desmond is the Director of Loan Market Franchise, Feedback Finance in Melbourne, and since that win in 2017 at the FBAA Awards he’s taken out several high-ranking awards, including;
- 2018 MFAA Best Young Professional and Best Newcomer
- 2018 Best Newcomer VIC & TAS at the annual Loan Market Awards
- Rising Star at the 2018 Better Business Awards
- And, both Best Customer Service and Australian Broker of the Year at the 2018 Australian Broking Awards
Despite only receiving his accreditation in April 2017, Mr Desmond has hit the ground running and he credits his success to his passion for good customer experience.
“This is a people business and I love helping my customers. We must focus on solving customer problems, not just selling loan products. In my opinion, this is the best time to be a mortgage broker because we have an opportunity of a lifetime. Our customers need us more now than ever before as lenders and banks are changing every day making it harder for our customers to secure finance,” said Mr Desmond.
“It’s humbling to be rewarded by your peers, aggregator and industry bodies. It keeps me accountable and dedicated to moving forward day-by-day to serve my customers better.”
Mr Desmond said he couldn’t have achieved the success he had in such a short time without the full support of Loan Market behind him, making special mention of Victoria and Tasmania State Director Andrea McNaughton and Learning and Development Head Kristy Bartlett who have supported him every step of the way.
From here Mr Desmond is dedicated to continuing to serve his customers to the best of his ability. He hopes the success continues into 2019 and says he’s focused on making the next year even bigger than the last 12 months.
“There is no Plan B, I want success more than anyone else. I’m focused on speed of service and making the process easy for our clients. We know the products inside and out and have a genuine desire to be the best. In 2019 I’m focusing on building my team, creating a process driven business as process trumps motivation and building the culture and systems inside my business.
