An inspiring and learning day for me

Such a pleasure to be presenting a donation of $500 at the High Tea on Saturday as a fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Institute Nsw, Westmead Hospital. Well done Fiona Neill from Ray White Windsor for hosting this wonderful event.

I learned a lot about the disease and prevention and also was very inspired by Farid and his work and by Fiona's story. Here's a mixed bag of things I learned and highlights;

Fiona talking about her surgeon, Dr Farid Meybodi "Achievement is often anonymous, some of the greatest things have been done by people you have never heard of quietly dedicating their lives to improving others"

Farid talking about what attending this fundraiser meant to him. "I was fascinated by Fiona's story which mirrored the history of breast cancer and treatment over the past 3 generations ...... Being here and feeling the support and energy in the room re-commits me to working even harder".

Did you know? At the age of 40 that women can get free breast cancer screening. {no, it's NOT 50}.

Did you know? The biggest reason that Western Sydney has low attendance rates for mammogram checks is fear - fear of impact on life of self and family, fear of loss of sexuality or sense of being a woman, fear of the unknown etc.

Did you know? The chances of beating breast cancer are GREATLY enhanced by detection in a mammogram compared to self examination.

thanks for the opportunity for me to learn and be inspired
