A recent weekend camping with the family provided a great escape from our usual routine of work and sports. It was my first family camping experience, I usually stay in resort style accommodation however recently purchased a tent to see what camping has to offer.
We arrived at our destination late in the afternoon, the sun had gone down and light was fading fast. Tent and beds were erected in the dark, a comedy of errors but we got there in the end. An interesting night to follow, freezing cold, numerous toilet trips with kids and a deflated bed. I recall laughing at 2am, as I lay flat on the ground frozen stiff, all ….…out of my control
Daylight broke, breakfast had and a trip to the shops for some warm necessities. The rest of the day spent together exploring the river, rocks and ocean at sunny Sawtell. Such a pretty spot, next time we will bring our fishing rods.
Back in our tent after tea for games with the kids, lots of laughter was had. Night 2 proved much better for sleeping although the bed deflated again…maybe this is just part of camping.
A fantastic weekend was had by all, I really loved my camping experience and cannot believe I have been missing out all these years. I am counting down to the warmer weather to camp again, looking forward to more relaxation and fun family times.
