Interest Rates on Hold - 11 Months and Counting

The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has decided to keep the cash rate at 2.50 per cent for the eleventh consecutive month. This is now the longest period of stable interest rates we have seen in decades.

Loan Market director Mark De Martino had this to say following the rate decision today:

“The interest rates of the past year have been great for consumers either looking to get into the property market or pay lower interest rates on their existing mortgages. One of the biggest pluses has been that these rates have kept inflation down, which is encouraging for the long-term outlook for interest rates,” he said.
