Loan Market Kicks Off International Conference

Loan Market’s first ever international overseas conference kicks off today in Fiji with almost 250 brokers, corporate staff members and lender partners attending the two day event that features a wide-range of speakers and activities.

Loan Market director Mark De Martino said the event was the result of a year long preparation and aimed to leave brokers feeling inspired, focused and valued and appreciated by the leadership teams and colleagues.

“Planning for this conference, our dream was to put together something very different; a conference about mind, body and spirit. The theme for our conference this year is “Recharge” - and we recognise that building and growing a successful business needs a holistic approach with your mind, body and spirit in the right place to focus,” Mr De Martino said.

Mr De Martino said he was extremely excited by the opportunities the next few days presented with the group coming together.

“Fiji is a place for us to draw on each other. The best stories and the best value from our conferences always come from meeting and listening to other brokers; how they have prospected and grown, what systems they have adopted, what issues they have overcome and what they have learned from that often dreaded word “failure”.  Embracing this word, and learning from our setbacks can teach us so much.”

Mr De Martino said that Executive Chairman Sam White would open the conference by welcoming all delegates and providing his own personal insights into emerging trends in the industry and his plans for 2014 and beyond.

“So much has happened in both our Australian and New Zealand businesses over the past 12 months. We will speak to some of the changes which have occurred both in Australia and across the Tasman. What challenges have we faced and what have we learned?” he said.

Some of the notable speakers included inspirational speaker Tom O’Toole, CEO & Founder of Australia’s leading food rescue organisation, OzHarvest, Ronni Kahn, seven time Iron Man champion and former ‘Australia’s fittest athlete’ Guy Leech, and Layne Beachley who is widely regarded as the most successful female surfer in history.
