New-to-industry broker named in Loan Market NSW top 10
Wollongong-based Loan Market broker, Renee Robins achieved a personal best and ranked sixth in the state in September after just 18 months as a mortgage broker.
Balancing a young family as well as a career, Renee achieved nearly $5 million in settlements in September and said the result was a long time coming.
“A lot of the deals that came through had been in my pipeline for anywhere between six and 12 months. It came down to nurturing my relationships and servicing my clients at the time that they needed it,” Renee said.
A graduate of Loan Market’s Accelerated Mentoring Programme, Renee established her mortgage broking business in March 2014.
“It’s been 18 months of hard work. One of the biggest challenges I faced was moving from Sydney to Wollongong. I was working with clients in Sydney and as far north as the Central Coast, and wanted to provide them with the same level of service when I moved,” Renee said.
Hitting the ground running in Wollongong, Renee developed referral partnerships straight away and began educating her new community on the different options out there.
“I began to realise that a lot people weren’t aware of the options out there. It seemed a lot of local mortgage holders had gone to one bank and taken the first option presented to them. I have found myself doing a lot of refinancing for people to save them money in the long-term.”
In late July 2015, Renee established an active referral partnership with Ray White Albion Park.
“Working with Ray White has helped overcome the challenge of moving to a new region. They’ve provided me a great pathway to the local community and I’ve developed trust with the team really quickly.
“I make sure I go to their sales meeting every week. In each meeting I present to them and try to vary it week-to-week. Sometimes it’s an education session, other times I run through a case study of what could happen with a customer or I update them on industry changes.
“My aim is to provide agents - even the most experienced ones - with new information that can help them provide a better service to their clients. Everything I learned in the Accelerated Mentoring Program I have either implemented into my business or used to educated my business partners and community,” she said.
Renee’s long-term goal is to open her own Loan Market shopfront in Wollongong.
